Jefferson County's excellent transportation system enables your businesss to maximize logistics costs.

Road

Jefferson County is serviced by the four-lane highways U.S. Route 22 and State Route 7.  US-22 runs east-west from Pittsburgh towards  Columbus, and SR-7 runs north-south the length of the county along the river.  Interstate 70 is just six miles from the southern end of Jefferson County, and Interstates 76 and 79 are thirty miles from Steubenville.

River

The Ohio River runs along the eastern length of Jefferson County and offers cost-effective means of transporting high-volume product.  The Ohio River dock system provides a consistent river depth suitable for large vessel river traffic.  Ports are available in Steubenville, Mingo Junction, Rayland, and Tiltonsville. The Wellsville Intermodal Facility is located just north of the county line. 

Rail

Norfolk-Southern, Wheeling and Lake Erie, and Columbus & Ohio River Railroad rail service is available in Jefferson County.  Rail map at right can be downloaded here (pdf) (map provided by BHJ).

Air

Jefferson County is home to an award-winning airport that has an attractive terminal with several amenities and a new hangar that can accomodate corporate jets.  The runway is currently 4,400 feet long, and construction is underway to extend it to 5,000 feet.   Learn more about the Jefferson County Airpark.

Our county has excellent access to the Pittsburgh International Airport, which is just 25 miles from Steubenville.  From several points in the county, the drive to the Pittsburgh Airport is uninterrupted by stoplights or traffic delays.
