Workforce Development

Our county’s eager and available workforce is complemented by a strong workforce development system.

Connections One Stop Employment Center, located in Steubenville, is part of Ohio’s One-Stop employment system designed to assist job seekers and employers through a variety of programs and services.  These include Ohio’s On-the-Job Training (OJT) program, pre-employment screening and testing, interview rooms, job fairs, and utilization of the Ohio Means Jobs employment posting system.  Additional information about services offered to employers through the Connections One-Stop Employment and Training Center is available here.

Jefferson County is also fortunate to have top-notch educational institutions including  Eastern Gateway Community College (EGCC), world-renowned Franciscan University of Steubenville, and an outstanding vocational school  Jefferson County Vocational School.  These facilities have been instrumental in preparing tomorrow’s workforce and are willing to coordinate with area employers to develop programs that will prepare their students for local employment opportunities.  For example, EGCC has been active with ShaleNET and other training programs for the oil and gas industry.
